What is Neurotoxin Injection?
Neurotoxin injections are safe, FDA-approved minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures that target fine lines and wrinkles. These injections contain botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A), which temporarily relaxes the muscles in your face, preventing them from contracting. This softens lines and prevents new ones from forming.
At Beauty Theory, we offer three types of neurotoxin injectables to our clients: Dysport, Botox, and Daxxify. Neurotoxins are commonly used to treat facial wrinkles, but can also be used to treat neck bands/wrinkles, excessive sweating, TMJ disorders, and shoulder tension. Botox and Dysport are known to last 3-4 months, but Daxxify has shown to last up to 6-9 months.
What to Expect During and After Neurotoxin Injections Treatment
For most, neurotoxin injections are painless. They’re a non-surgical treatment, injected using a very fine needle. Most patients say it feels like a pin-prick or snapping rubber band on the skin.
After treatment, injection sites will be slightly red and swollen. This typically subsides in about one hour.
The effects of neurotoxin injections will be noticeable in about 3 days, and results will begin to peak after about 14-21 days. For best results, it is highly recommended to have consistent treatments every 3-4 months for Botox/Dysport and 5-6 months for Daxxify.

How do neurotoxin injections work?
Facial wrinkles are caused by repeated muscle contractions through facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows. Neurotoxin injections treat facial wrinkles by reducing the underlying muscle activity that causes these facial expressions. When facial muscle movement is reduced, wrinkles soften significantly.
How long will the results last?
Botox/Dysport is known to last up to 3-4 months. Daxxify, the newest toxin in the market, has shown to last up to 6-9 months.
When will I see a difference?
Most patients see results can be seen within 72 hours, but this can vary depending on the individual. You can expect to see optimal results around 2-3 weeks after treatment.
